A video of the 2018 Mercedes G-Class has been seen online, which gives us a nice idea of what the future off-roading Mercedes will be looking (and sounding) like. It sounds like a very nice, rumbling V8 (which will no doubt be one of the many engine options, covering both petrol and diesel).
The 2018 G-Class will no longer have live axles front and rear – instead opting for an independently-sprung front end. The rear looks to be a live axle with visible trailing arms, but that’s all we can tell so far.
The style and spirit, so to speak, will remain intact for the legendary G-Class: The slab-sides, flat windscreen and square front fenders (with indicators on top) will leave no confusion as to what you’re looking at. Hell, this will have to be one of the few new vehicles still with a roof gutter and rear-mounted spare. Awesome.
