Achilles might not be a household name when it comes to off-road tyres, however they have gained a considerably good reputation in the performance car and drift car scene of late. Which is why we were interested to see the latest mud terrain tyre to be released by Achilles, known as the Desert Hawk XMT (Extreme Mud Terrain). Achilles claim to have developed a chunky-looking tyre that will also deliver where it counts on-road. They say this is due to the incorporated tread pattern, which is constructed from three step-blocks that reduce deflection of the tread area when cornering or in tight manoeuvrers. Another cool feature of the XMT is the variety of sizes available to suit wheels from 14in to 20in in diameter.
