Cape York – World War II Plane Wrecks

Located throughout Cape York, the most popular World War II plane wrecks to visit are near the Tip and around Weipa, where there were functioning Allied air bases during the war. It’s a reminder to how close the fight was to Australian shores. Also keep an eye out for the thousands of disused fuel barrels that are rotting away in the bush.
