Where’s your winter at? Why not join the Great Endeavour Rally, an eight-day trek across Queensland to raise money for the Endeavour Foundation, which exists to “support people with intellectual disability and allow them to live, work and flourish according to their own interests and priorities”. As the largest annual fundraiser for the foundation, the rally aims to raise half a million dollars by having a whole lot of fun in a friendly rally trek.

Now in its 32nd year, the Great Endeavour Rally will take place between the 26th of July and the 3rd of August 2019 starting in Bundaberg and travelling via Julia Creek, hitting the Gulf at Karumba, turning eastbound through Undara before a triumphant coastal finish in Townsville. The Rally traverses diverse scenery, from the grasslands of Julia Creek to the volcanic lava flows on Undara, as well as following in Burke and Wills’ footsteps.

Many teams enjoy the rally so much they return year after year – new teams are always welcome too. If you would like to support the cause but can’t attend the rally, pick a team and make a donation on the official rally website. The cost of entry is $350 per vehicle and $950 per person, which covers food, accommodation and safety equipment. Each team has the goal of raising at least $3300 in donations too.

The Endeavour Rally also hosts a one-day event on the 23rd of February, giving a great taste of the longer rally as well as being a shake-down run for teams entering the eight-day event.
