Almost every second 4X4 you see driving on the road will probably have an awning mounted to their roof racks or bars. The popularity of roof awnings has soared, with people realising the simple nature of awnings and their ability to provide quick shade while out camping. However, that shortcut to shade also means you carry around an awning even when using your 4X4 as an everyday driver, or if you want to do a daytrip out of camp to visit some tracks, you have to pack up your awning before you go. The team behind Ironman 4×4 have released a solution to this, their Awning Quick Release Mounting Brackets. One half attaches to your roof rack, the other to the back of your awning, and you can then easily slide your awning on and off your vehicle. For extra security we recommend getting some long shaft padlocks to make sure your awning doesn’t go walkabout.
