With the bar work in place, and now that we have a good idea of what sort of weights we’re going to be lugging around on Project Rusty, it’s time to get the suspension sorted. We kicked around a bunch of ideas, talking about coil conversions, link set-ups and even coil-overs, but at the end of the day this thing is for touring, and the stock set-up does exceptionally well at it. Still, we’ve got some serious rubber in mind for the future and we don’t want a crappy ride over outback corrugations and washouts, so we got on the blower to our mates at ARB and asked them what would work.

They came back to us with a 50mm lifted set of heavy duty leaves and coils, and some of their new BP-51 shocks, which have more technology in them than the International Space Station and are designed to handle the gnarliest conditions possible. To say we’re excited to get out and test these things is an understatement!

Keep tuning in – we’ve still got big things to come. And make sure you let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
