Global recognition and a big first for off-grid power
Renogy has been recognised by Frost & Sullivan for creating the world’s first smart, portable solid-state battery for mobile energy storage. The new range will make its debut at Caravan Salon 2025 in Düsseldorf and is being positioned as nothing less than “Lithium 2.0”.
For everyday 4X4 tourers and campers, this could be a genuine game-changer. Solid-state batteries are safer, tougher, and longer-lasting than traditional lithium setups. The kind of upgrade that matters when your fridge, lights and comms all depend on reliable power out bush.
Why solid-state matters
Conventional lithium-ion batteries remain popular, but they still come with limitations – from fire risk to reduced performance in extreme heat or cold. Renogy’s solid-state lithium iron phosphate (LiFePO4) chemistry swaps most of the flammable liquid electrolyte for a stable solid layer.
“The energy industry has long recognised the limitations and safety concerns of conventional lithium-ion batteries,” said Dr. Yi Li, Founder and CEO at Renogy. “That is why we have invested heavily in solid-state technology. This innovation reduces fire risk, enhances durability, and integrates advanced monitoring to give users greater confidence and control over their energy independence.”
The result is:
- Greater safety – far less risk of fire or leakage.
- More power in less space – up to 20% smaller and 23% lighter than same-capacity batteries.
- Longer lifespan – rated for around 6000 cycles at 80% depth of discharge.
- Performance in extremes – works better in sub-zero temps and harsh Aussie summers.
For travellers who push their setups hard, from desert crossings to snowy alpine camps, this technology aims to deliver dependable energy every time.
The new range
Renogy’s new lineup features three models, each built for different setups and needs:
- 104Ah slimline – ultra-thin at just 60mm, built for tight installs under seats or against camper walls. Lightweight and self-heating, it’s made for tourers who value space.
- 120Ah pro – a compact all-rounder with higher output, perfect for caravans and camper trailers where you need a balance of size and grunt.
- 240Ah pro – the heavy hitter. Designed for caravans, motorhomes and serious overland builds running bigger fridges, induction cooktops and extended off-grid stays.
All three feature Renogy’s advanced BMS, Bluetooth monitoring, CAN bus compatibility, IP67 waterproofing, and solid warranties (7–8 years depending on model).

What it means for 4X4 and camping setups
This isn’t just tech for tech’s sake. For touring utes and camper trailers, the 104Ah slimline makes it possible to add serious power in places standard batteries won’t fit. The 120Ah pro suits families chasing balance between size and output. And the 240Ah pro gives hardcore off-griders the capacity to run energy-hungry gear without compromise.
