This is the reason Cross Country has created a direct bolt-on replacement for the intercooler fitted to current model 76/78/79 Series V8 turbo-diesel LandCruisers. According to Cross Country, the factory Toyota setup struggles with low speed, high ambient temperature conditions. Cross Country has tested its intercooler kit in the Flinders Ranges, and recorded results with better fuel economy and reduced exhaust gas temperatures (EGT), too.
