The new-look Lexus LX 570 S packs “urban appeal” to go with its luxury appointments and 5.7L petrol V8 engine.

Lexus has updated its flagship LX 570 S which is distinguished by a redesigned Lexus spindle grille with a block-mesh insert, new front bumper skirts and new wheels.

According to Lexus, “approximately 70″ gloss-black blocks are employed” on the new grille – we guess no one actually counted them – and these are positioned either side of the central Lexus badge to “create an impression of powerful forward movement”.

The new front bumper skirts are said to have a more seamless integration of key design attributes, while the new two-tone 10-spoke 21-inch alloy wheels “provide greater visual depth and intrigue”. Hmmmm…

A moulded ‘S’ badge on the tailgate ensures following drivers won’t mistake your LX 570 S for a lower-grade variant, while door courtesy lamps with ‘LX S’ projector illumination will ensure you won’t forget, either.

On a more practical note, the LX 570 S gets front and rear performance dampers for improved steering stability.

The LX 570 S is powered by a 5.7-litre V8 petrol engine that makes a claimed 270kW of power and 530Nm of torque. It’s mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission and drives through a full-time 4X4 system.

Lexus Australia Chief Executive Scott Thompson says the new-look LX 570 S provides a stylish option for luxury customers who prefer a sportier LX.

“The LX is our most popular L Series model thanks to its combination of maximum luxury, incredible capability and renowned Lexus care with the industry-leading Encore Platinum owner benefits program as standard,” Mr Thompson said.

“The new-look LX 570 S further broadens the appeal of this flagship luxury SUV with sporty, yet subtle design touches and a focus on enhancing its urban appeal.”

While the LX 570 S is aimed more at the urban market than those who like to spend their weekends in the scrub, there’s always the TDV8-powered LX 450d, and those who opt for this more capable luxury bush tourer will be happy to know that Lexus Encore Platinum membership is standard with every LX. This includes benefits such as valet parking vouchers at various shopping centres, the freedom to swap into another Lexus model up to four times throughout the three-year membership period and Qantas valet booking through the Lexus App.

The cost of admission? The current Lexus LX range is priced as follows (plus on-road costs):
LX 450d $137,636
LX 570 $146,636
LX 570 Enhancement Pack $165,436
LX 570 S $168,767
