Enjoy an easy savoury entrée to tickle your tastebuds while the main meal cooks.
Entrée: Makes 4 skewers
Prep time: 15 minutes
Cooking time: Approx. 45 minutes
Ingredients
4 chicken tenderloin strips (or large green prawns or yabbies, peeled & deveined)
4 strips of shaved prosciutto
3 tablespoons butter
3 cloves garlic, crushed/minced/grated
4 skewers trimmed to fit in your camp oven (soaked in water for 15 mins if wooden or cover the tips with foil)
Method
1. Pre-heat camp oven to a medium heat
2. Mince or grate garlic and mix into butter
3. Lay out one strip of prosciutto and spread generously with garlic butter
4. Lay one prawn or chicken strip on the end of the prosciutto and wind until wrapped
5. Thread onto skewer
6. Lay skewers on trivet in camp oven
7. Cook on high heat for 45 minutes (or ~15 if using crustaceans) with most heat from coals on the lid
8. Spoon garlic butter cooking juices over cooked skewers prior to serving
