Suzuki Jimny Heritage returns and this time it’s automatic

The Suzuki Jimny Heritage returns with an automatic transmission and retro styling but just 300 vehicles are available. Here's what we know.

Red mud flaps, retro decals and one less pedal. The Suzuki Jimny Heritage is returning to Australia, with another 300 three-door vehicles available exclusively with an automatic transmission.

Priced from $42,490 drive-away, the 2026 Suzuki Jimny Heritage costs $1,500 more than the standard Jimny automatic. Pre-orders are open now through participating Suzuki Australia dealerships.

The original Heritage edition arrived in 2023 as a manual-only model, with its 300-vehicle allocation selling out in just five hours, according to Suzuki. This second release answers demand from buyers who wanted the same retro treatment with an automatic.

What does the Jimny Heritage add?

Based on the three-door Jimny GLX automatic, the Heritage edition adds:

  • Red front and rear mud flaps
  • Jimny Heritage cargo tray
  • Heritage decals
  • Limited-build badge
  • Exclusive Jimny Heritage pack

Suzuki’s announcement lists no mechanical or off-road upgrades over the GLX automatic on which it’s based. Basically, it’s appeal is in its old-school styling.

Buyers can choose from Superior White, Medium Grey or Jungle Green, with metallic paint costing extra. Suzuki hasn’t detailed what the exclusive Heritage pack includes in its announcement.

Another 300, numbered from 301 to 600

Each vehicle in the new allocation will be individually numbered from 301 to 600, continuing the numbering from the original 2023 release. Suzuki says these will be the final three-door Jimny Heritage limited-edition models sold in Australia, bringing the total across the two releases to 600 vehicles.

Just to be clear, the announcement concerns the Heritage edition, rather than the end of the regular three-door Jimny.

Suzuki Australia General Manager Michael Pachota said the automatic option was something customers had been requesting.

“The first 300 Jimny 3-Door Heritage manuals sold out in just five hours, which showed us just how much our customers love this special limited piece of history,” Pachota said.

“Now, for the first time, Jimny 3-Door Heritage is finally available with an automatic transmission, giving even more customers the opportunity to own one.”

How much is the 2026 Suzuki Jimny Heritage?

The Jimny Heritage starts at $42,490 drive-away, before any additional metallic paint charge. Suzuki puts the Heritage premium at $1,500 over the standard Jimny automatic.

For buyers already considering a GLX auto, that extra spend gets the Heritage accessories, distinctive graphics and individually numbered badge. Whether that’s worth it will come down to how much you like the retro look and the appeal of owning one of a limited batch.

Pre-orders are available through participating Suzuki Australia dealers. With the first allocation disappearing in five hours, Suzuki expects strong interest again.
