James Baroud has just unveiled its latest rooftop tent, the Nova – a clamshell-style tent designed for adventurers who want a compact setup without sacrificing interior space.
Combining a low-profile build with smart design updates, the Nova is designed for tough off-road use while keeping comfort and practicality front and centre. Measuring just 24cm high when closed, the Nova is aerodynamic and ideal for tackling narrow tracks and remote trails where height matters.
Unlike most wedge-style tents, the Nova features a clamshell-like shape that opens up to a generous internal height. With 220cm of internal length, it’s also a more spacious option for taller travellers or those bringing extra gear inside.
This is also the first James Baroud tent to feature fully openable fabric sides, allowing for 360-degree panoramic views and excellent airflow. The design gives campers a stronger connection to their surroundings while keeping things breezy and condensation-free.
What sets the Nova apart from many rooftop tents is its integrated roof bar system. Built directly into the tent shell are three included crossbars that can carry up to 50kg of gear. Ideal for kayaks, surfboards, bikes or additional storage bags. The tent’s mounting gutters also support optional storage sacks for added organisation.
Constructed from high-quality Italian ABS plastic and a Dutch-made aluminised technical fabric, the Nova is designed for year-round use. The materials offer a mix of durability, impact resistance, breathability, and heat reflection. A four-layer fibreglass shell with a UV-protective coating rounds out the weather defence.
Inside, you’ll find a 65mm high-density foam mattress, hanging storage pockets, ceiling netting, internal lighting, and a hidden zipper system for improved insulation and wind resistance. The tent also comes with a telescopic ladder, mattress cover, clamps, and all mounting hardware.
Weighing 68.5kg and measuring 220cm x 140cm when open, the Nova maintains a minimal environmental footprint while packing in a surprising number of usable features. It’s designed with ease-of-use in mind, aiming to make setup, sleeping, and gear storage as seamless as possible.
