Jeep has dropped the price on the 2025 Wrangler – but is it enough?

Jeep has announced pricing and availability for the 2025 Jeep Wrangler, and while the iconic off-roader remains largely unchanged, one thing definitely has shifted – the price.

For the new model year, the Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 2-door now starts at $79,990 MSRP, down from $82,950. The 4-door variant sees an even bigger drop, now priced at $82,990 MSRP, compared to $89,450 last year. It’s a significant move in a market where vehicle pricing seems to be going in the opposite direction – up.

But is the lower entry point enough to entice buyers back?

What’s new for 2025?

Not much at all. While mechanically unchanged from the previous year, the MY25 Wrangler does get a choice of two new colours – the retro-inspired ‘41 and vibrant Mojito – in addition to the existing colours: Bright White, Black, Granite Crystal, Firecracker Red, Hydro Blue, and Anvil.

The model range is simple and focused. Both the Rubicon 2-door and 4-door variants feature Jeep’s 2.0L turbo-petrol engine, producing 200kW and 400Nm. That engine delivers strong low-end torque, improved fuel efficiency, and plenty of grunt for both daily driving and remote adventures.

Same old

The 2025 Jeep Wrangler keeps all the key off-road features that have earned it a cult following and the coveted Trail Rated badge. This includes:

  • Rock-Trac® 4×4 system with 4:1 low-range and 77.2:1 crawl ratio
  • Dana 44 full-float rear axle for better weight distribution and tyre upgrades
  • TrailCam front-facing off-road camera
  • Skid plates, solid axles and 2-speed transfer case
  • Removable roof panels for open-air driving
  • 12.3-inch Uconnect 5 touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto
  • Safety tech, including curtain airbags front and rear, and rear seat reminder alerts on the 4-door

It’s worth noting the Wrangler continues to cater to those who customise their rigs, with full-float axles simplifying aftermarket wheel and tyre upgrades.

Optional extras

Buyers opting for premium paint will pay $1,145 on the 2-door and $1,490 on the 4-door. The Sky-One-Touch power roof is exclusive to the 4-door and comes in at $6,450.

Final thoughts

With no major spec upgrades but a noticeable drop in price, the 2025 Wrangler Rubicon is perhaps aiming to remain competitive in a market in which they have essentially priced themselves out of in recent years. Whether the price cut is enough to bring back undecided buyers remains to be seen, but still, for those chasing genuine off-road cred and the ability to ditch the roof, there’s nothing else quite like it.

  1. Sooner or later the prices of vehicles will return to the pre-covid prices and may become competitive with the Chinese brands. For the consumers who want a vehicle for 2 -5 years on a lease and then make it the Dealers problem to sell it on, we are not bothered about the possible reliability of a longer lasting vehicle and need to save money for other business assets.
