Plastic (well, Polyethylene) isn’t the first thing you would think of when it comes to a suitable bullbar construction material. The team at SmartBar disagree however, claiming their bullbars can resist large amounts of force while being able to literally bounce back to shape after sustaining an impact. They are also lighter than a traditional steel bullbar, coming in at 27kg; and they will not rust. The latest offering, dubbed ‘The Stealth Bar’, is available to suit current model Ford Ranger and Ford Everest vehicles (with many more models to come), and is a full bumper replacement. The Stealth will house a 9,500lb winch and has provisions for driving lights while retaining the factory-fitted fog lights and parking sensors. The Stealth Bar meets all Australian standards. It’s ADR approved, airbag compatible, and said to be a more ‘pedestrian friendly’ alternative.
