After it winning last issue’s mid-sized wagon of the year award, we didn’t want to give the Toyota Fortuner back.

Thankfully, Toyota agreed to our request and was kind enough to let us hang onto it for a fair bit longer, to really get to know the vehicle. And it has come in very handy. Editor Ev can attest to the comfort of the seats after slipping a disc in his back whilst sweeping leaves (what a man). He has also been raving about the fuel economy, which is much better than his diesel GQ Patrol. The stereo is another point worth mentioning – the Bluetooth system works faultlessly, streaming Spotify and making phone calls seamlessly.

The only issue is, the vehicle is completely stock and is just begging to be upgraded. So we are hoping to put some genuine Toyota accessories onto the vehicle, to really turn it into a well-sorted touring machine. Any complaints? Well the rear vision is somewhat obstructed due to the third row seating (when folded up). Hardly a deal breaker considering the mirrors are excellent, and you can just fold the seats down. All that’s left to do now is to get the Fortuner set up, and get some dirt under the tyres. Stay tuned for regular updates.
