Stealing a moniker from their American brethren, Ford has released a limited-edition Ranger FX4. It’s based on the XLT model Ranger, but gets an aesthetic package of black-pack bling for those who want to look ‘fully sick’.

There’s new-design 18in alloys used in Stark Grey, while the bonnet and tailgate have been wrapped in black. The Sports bar goes noir as well, along with the rear bumper, side steps, grille and door handles.

The interior also gets customised, with ‘FX4’-emblazoned seats and black accents to really tie the room together. So, it’s all aesthetic basically. Underneath, it’s XLT Ranger business as usual. There’s the very nice 8in Sync3 entertainment system, adaptive cruise control and lane departure warning.

Where a garden-variety XLT will set you back $55,415 (or $57,615 with an auto), you’re paying a $3,500 premium for the FX4 version. Hey, it probably looks better than a backyard job with a few cans of matte black ‘Export’ paint…
