If you’ve decided to take a trip off the beaten track, you like the idea of camping on the beach (I mean, who doesn’t) or setting up at a remote campsite, you might be wondering how to power up without being hooked up. After all, a lot of camper trailers don’t come with a built-in generator. Read on to hear how you can use a Yamaha Generator to power your camper off-road.
What do you need to power?
First of all, it’s worth considering what appliances you need to use and how much power each of these needs to run. If you’re camping in a trailer, you’ll most likely want to consider powering these appliances:
- Kettle
- Toaster
- Fridge
- Fan or air conditioner
- Phone
- Laptop
- Power board
- Speakers or radio
- Coffee machine
- Hair dryer
- TV
Yamaha Generators
Once you’ve got an idea of what your list looks like, you can start looking for the right generator for you. Not sure where to start? Here are three portable Yamaha options we recommend for campers.
2 kVA EF2000iS Inverter Generator
Portable, powerful and compact; the 2 kVA EF2000iS Inverter Generator is a popular choice for good reason.
- Best for: Camping, boating, fishing and camper trailers
- Enough power for: Microwave oven, camping fridge, small air conditioner, kettle or television
- Need to know: 20kg weight, maximum 2000 Watts of power
- Price: $2,349.00
2.2 kVA EF2200iS Inverter Generator
The EF2200iS is the latest on the scene and we’re pretty happy about it. Offering more power than the EF2000iS and less weight than the 2400iS, it’s the perfect middleman for adventurers.
- Best for: Camper trailers, campervans, campers and caravans
- Enough power for: Microwave oven, camping fridge, caravan air conditioner, kettle, television and tools
- Need to know: 25kg weight, maximum 2200 Watts of power
- Price: $2,499.00
2.4 kVA EF2400iS Inverter Generator
A portable power-horse, the EF2400iS is a go-to for bigger campers or when you need to rely on a few more appliances.
- Best for: Caravans, RVs, motorhomes and hot weather
- Can power: Caravan air conditioners, fridge, kettle, toaster, small heater, coffee machine (and a lot more!)
- Need to know: Lightest generator in its class at 32kg, maximum 2400 Watts of power
- Price: $2,990.00
Cool features
Despite the EF2400iS being heavier, all of these are reasonably light for the power they offer. They’re also easy to store, which is a huge bonus in our eyes.
When you’re outdoors, you want to hear the sounds of nature, not your generator humming through your head. Yamaha has installed a noise block sound reduction system to make these generators as quiet as a mouse. We think a feature like this is practically mandatory! If there’s one way to piss off the campers next to you, it’s by ruining their quiet nature time.
