Narva launches new EX2 LED driving lights

The LED driving light industry is one that never sits still. There are constant upgrades and improvements being made to ensure we get the best quality lighting options for our four-wheel drives. I for one love seeing innovation in this space.

Narva, no stranger to innovation in the off-road lighting industry, has just released its latest LED driving light, the EX2 range. From my own personal experience using and testing LED driving lights over the years, Narva has consistently been towards the top of the pack.

This is in terms of performance as well as overall quality. However, you certainly pay for the privilege as traditionally their driving lamps lights have attracted a premium price tag. The great thing about the EX2 LED driving lights, is they are a more affordable option that still offers loads of cool features.

What’s the story?

The EX2 lineup has been designed, engineered and tested in Australia to replace the outgoing ‘Explora’ range. All lights boast 5W Cree LEDs, with the aim of offering a hybrid pattern that provides a mix of both spread and distance illumination.

The claimed output will vary from light to light (there are four sizes available). Let’s take a look at the figures for the smallest four-inch EX2 and the larger nine-inch light.

For a pair of four-inch EX2 LED driving lights, Narva says you’ll net 6,590 raw lumens and 4,520 effective lumens. They also provide a figure of 1 Lux at 220m.

For the largest nine-inch in the EX2 series, these are the numbers. 27,200 raw lumens and 19,400 effective lumens. This results in a claimed figure of 1 Lux at 700m.

Wiring up the Narva EX2 LED driving lights

The first point of difference is the fact there is no need for a wiring harness. These driving lights have been designed for a DIY installation. The EX2 LED driving lights have an internal switching system, that does away with the need for any wires to be run through your firewall.

Narva even tells us that in the case of a positively switched system, only three wires are required to be connected. This saves time and money, as well as reduces potential damage to your pride and joy during the installation.

Colour your way

It’s one thing for a product to work well, but these days they also need to look the part. All Narva EX2 LED driving lights are shipped with two interchangeable trim colours; Electric and Slate.

If those options don’t tickle your fancy, Narva has some optional trim colours that can be purchased from their website. These include the vibrantly named Sunburst, Volcano, Juiced, Hyper, Bubblegum and Stealth. Check out their website for a closer look at these options to really make your four-wheel drive stand out.

Size does matter

There are four sizes in the EX2 LED driving light range. Starting with a smaller four-inch unit, then moving up to a six-inch light. Next, there is a seven-inch offering and lastly, the top-dog nine-inch EX2 LED driving light.

This will prove to be helpful for those with more modern bull bars, that make attaching a large LED driving light difficult. I’m also having naughty thoughts about how to incorporate the smallest four-inch EX2 into my future bull bar… that’s a handy little size.

Protected

I’ve always said that a strong warranty is a sign a company backs its product. Narva has slapped a 7-year ‘no fault’ warranty on the range of EX2 LED driving lights. I was unsure about what ‘no fault’ actually meant, so I had a quick look on the Narva website.

It states: “If you feel that it should be covered by warranty, so do we! So, if you have a collision with a roo and your EX2 lamp is severely damaged, we’ll happily replace it.”
