Ev says goodbye to his GQ Patrol, but what could his latest purchase be?
You might have seen my white GQ Patrol on these pages a bit, as it has been a base for testing products and a few trips here and there. It has been a great vehicle for the most part, only leaving me on the side of the road once when the clutch slave cylinder exploded. Oh, and when the brakes exploded… and when the fuel pump exploded. Like I said, great vehicle! The sad reality is though, rust has set in. And in a big way. The roof is the worst of the lot, and it’s at a point where an expensive repair would be required. It also has the thirsty TB42 petrol engine that still uses a carburettor; it chews the juice hard, basically. So what have I decided to replace the GQ with and have I made the right decision?
