Let’s be honest, Australia loves American 4X4s. From the F-Trucks that have been around since the 70s to the Cummins-powered RAMs to the big Chevs, if you have a lot of mass to move (or tow) and you don’t mind punting around in a vehicle that makes a 70-series look like a Zook, then a heavy-duty US truck is the box a lot of us tick.
Then there’s the Jeep side of things. Like them or loathe them, Jeeps offer one of the best blank canvasses for the wheeler to build from and are arguably the most capable 4X4 out of the box. And everything is available for them, from simple bolt-on mods to superchargers to ute conversion kits to those weird little bullet-hole stickers that were insanely popular for about three embarrassing minutes. That’s the beauty of Jeeps, they’re just so upgradable, with the TJ and then JK Wranglers being the most modified vehicles on the planet for pretty much their entire model runs.
Up until now, other than a couple of specialist workshops, if you wanted high-end suspension for your American rig, you were essentially limited to the private import route. That got real expensive real fast, and while we undoubtedly have a lot of beautifully built Jeeps and full-sizes over here, getting the good stuff from suspension companies has been somewhat difficult.
Fast-forward to today, and we’ve got the imminent release of the new F150, RAMs and Silverados towing campers everywhere and no shortage of Gladiators and JL Wranglers being all flirty out on the hard tracks – something had to give.
The solution…
Enter the mad dogs from Superior Engineering. Not only have they been providing top-shelf suspension for Nissans, Toyotas and the usual suspects since forever, but now they’ve set themselves up as the importer for suspension for the US trucks too. And we’re not just talking lift blocks and strut spacers here. We’re talking cutting edge suspension kits from brands like Carli, Dynatrac, Metalcloak and Icon Vehicle Dynamics. If those names don’t mean anything, try reading the banners at a Desert Race, Rock-Crawling event or anything to do with off-roading in the U.S., because these guys are the top shelf in the game, bringing unparalleled performance for your 4X4 into the mix.
All of these lift kits and suspension components are available for pre-release now, so jump on the Superior Engineering website to make sure your order is guaranteed.
Carli suspension & lift kits
20 years back, a bloke named Sage Carli saw that everyone was offering band-aid suspension kits for RAMS that ignored the inherent design flaws in the factory suspension set-up. So he developed a kit that fixed all the in-built problems and made the whole thing work a bunch nicer while also providing a lift and enhancing driveability.
Since then, Carli has been at the forefront of suspension design and products for the RAMs and F-trucks based on years of experience in desert racing and painstaking R&D. Want your big rig to ride nice and perform off-road, from floating over the Simmo to gliding over the hardcore stuff, Carli will get you there, amigo.
Dynatrac Jeep lift kits & suspension
Look, we get it. You’ve bought a brand-new Wrangler or Gladiator, and the ride is somewhat… awful. Yeah, you knew you were getting into an “off-road” vehicle, but why does every speedhump require a trip to the chiro and two fingers of whiskey to recover from?
Yep, it’s because the Jeep suspension is not that crash hot from the factory, but don’t get bent out of shape, you just need to throw in a Dynatrac Enduro lift kit and bid those ride problems a find farewell. There’s no such thing as “perfect” suspension, but the Dynatrac kit comes pretty damn close for non-trailer-queen Jeeps.
You can go from mild (new springs and shocks plus mandatory bumpstop spacers and swaybar links) to wild (long arms, flipped high steer and provision for up to 37in rubber) while increasing ride quality and massively improving off-road performance.
Icon Vehicle Dynamics lift kits & suspension
These guys are one of the leaders in suspension design and have kits available for a massive range of vehicles. Guess that’s what happens when your head engineer is a SCORE champion.
Icon are one of those companies that refuse to release a product until it’s absolutely bang-on, so you know you’re buying quality. If you’re chasing anything from an upgraded set of coilovers and UCAs for your F150 or a full-arm-replacement-and-remote-res Jeep Gladiator lift kit, then be sure to check out the range of Icon Vehicle Dynamics products.
Metalcloak lift kits
Looking to update your Jeep or RAM’s suspension with, y’know, something good?Metalcloak have you covered. With over a decade of experience supplying super high-quality aftermarket suspension and body protection to their US-based customers, they’re also an industry innovator. With products like the Duroflex joint, 6Pak shock absorber system and Baller Joints, Metalcloak are right up among the best in the business.
If you’re looking to get a much higher degree of off-road performance and a better overall ride from your Wrangler or Gladiator, take a look at their bolt-on long-arm kit. Or, if your RAM isn’t doing it for you on the rough stuff, there’s the Game Changer radius arm kits that’ll take it to the next level.

Why aren’t you also promoting airbag suspension conversion kit’s? When I was in America for Sema, there were a lot of airbag kit’s on display, heavy duty ones too! & reasonably priced. I wouldn’t have anything else on my 4×4!
