The Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Willys will be released in Australia in a limited run of just 130 examples to kick off the company’s 80th anniversary celebrations.

According to Jeep Australia, the limited edition Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Willys pays homage to the ‘father of recreational vehicles’, the legendary 1948 Willys Overland CJ-3A.

“The Jeep Willys Overland CJ-3A is an off-road icon and we’re excited to offer a modern model to the market that features an array of 4X4 upgrades and unique styling that honours the Jeep heritage,” Jeep Australia’s Guillaume Drelon said.

“Jeep owners have been able to experience the adventure, open-air freedom and off-road capability that the Willys has had to offer since 1948, and this is no different in 2021,” added Drelon.

Distinguishing the Willys from run-of-the-mill Wrangler Unlimited variants is a blacked-out front grille, 17-inch five-spoke gloss black aluminium wheels, a military-styled stencil on the bonnet and a ‘4 Wheel Drive’ decal on the rear gate inspired by Jeep’s 80-year heritage. Inside, the Willys scores a modern silver-platinum instrument mid-panel and practical all-weather slush mats.

Mechanically, the Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Willys gains an upgraded Dana M220 rear axle (as used on the Rubicon spec) combined with an anti-spin rear differential.

Powered by Jeep’s 3.6L petrol V6 mated to an eight-speed auto, the Willys Limited Edition lists at $61,941 plus on-road costs. It’s available in Bright White, Sting Grey, Sarge Green or Black, and premium paint adds $745.
