The special edition 2020 Ford Ranger FX4 will go on-sale in December as part of the refreshed Ford Ranger line-up.
Based on Ford’s volume-selling leader, the XLT dual-cab 4×4, the FX4 will return to dealerships in December alongside the rest of the refreshed line-up. Ford is offering an initial allocation of 1000 units.
The FX4 is essentially just a sticker pack, offering a unique grille, black contrasting treatments and unique 18-inch alloys (up from the XLT’s 17-inch alloys), there are 3D-look FX4 decals splashed across the body. The FX4 gets a bedliner and black sports bar, and is available in five colours, Shadow Black, Arctic White, True Red, Meteor Grey and Aluminium Metallic.
On the inside, the FX4 gets sports-style front seats with FX4 logo in red, as well as contrasting red stitching on the steering wheel, gear selector, handbrake cover and floor mats. Borrowed from the top-spec Wildtrak, the FX4 gets a soft-touch dashboard, with the door tops finished in “Tinted Graphite to further bring out the Race Red detailing throughout the cabin,” according to Ford.
The FX4 will be available with either the 3.2-litre five-cylinder turbo-diesel and six-speed automatic or 2.0-litre bi-turbo diesel engine and 10-speed automatic, although Ford hasn’t said what the offering split will be. Like the XLT and Wildtrak, the FX4 runs the full gamut of Ford’s active safety suite including autonomous emergency braking, lane departure warning and more.
