A 2020 Land Rover Defender television commercial has hit the Interweb mixing behind the scenes stunt footage from the latest James Bond film, No Time To Die.

While we knew the 2020 Land Rover Defender would feature in the upcoming Bond filmNo Time To Die, and we’d seen the odd bit of stunt footage from filming, thanks to a new television commercial so much more has been revealed. In the ad, which Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) says is rehearsal footage from the movie, you not only see the Defender racing through a riverbed and along muddy roads but also launch off a 30-metre jump.

After the jump it’s rolled before continuing on its way. The stunt coordinator for the movie, Lee Morrison, stated; “We pushed the Defender further than we believed possible to generate the maximum excitement, and to give fans an insight into the uncompromising challenge of producing an incredible chase sequence”.

Nick Collins, Land Rover Defender vehicle line director stated, ahem, that it is just a new testing standard: “We developed a new test standard for Defender, the most challenging we’ve ever had and unique to this vehicle. Physical strength and durability is measured by a number of different tests including a bridge jump test which gave us confidence to deliver what the stunt team needed to create for No Time To Die, with no modifications to the body structure except the installation of a roll cage.”

The specifications of the Defenders used in the film are 110 models in Santorini Black, with darkened skidpans, 20-inch dark finish wheels as well as professional off-road tyres. However, the ten Defenders used won’t be the only JLR products in the film with a Range Rover Sport SVR, a Series III Land Rover, and a Range Rover Classic also featuring.
