The Takata airbag recall is the gift that keeps on giving; now affecting another 20,000 Nissan 4WDs. The D22 Navara and Y61 Patrol are now affected, with a recall issued on 1 December. Here’s the recall details:
“Certain passenger airbag inflators may allow moisture to enter the airbag inflator causing the propellant in the inflator units to deteriorate. Deterioration of the propellant may lead to abnormal deployment of the passenger airbag.
Abnormal passenger airbag deployment or metal fragment scatter may pose a hazard to the occupants of the vehicle.”
That sounds pretty awful, so if you own a D22 or GU Patrol, 2009-2012 vintage, check your VIN number against the below and get in touch with your closest Nissan dealer:
Navara: JN1CPUD22A0030007 to JN1CPUD22A0033519
Patrol: JN1***Y61A0001716 to JN1***Y61A0681762
