Ironman 4×4 has just announced a new range of 4×4 winches, built off their long-serving Monster Winch platform. The Monster Winch range was in service for 10 years, so it makes total sense to build off a platform Ironman 4×4 knows works. If you are in the market for an electric winch from Ironman 4×4, then let me introduce you to the new 2024 Frontier Winch.
What’s the story?
There are two winches available, that offer different load ratings. There’s a 9,500lb winch that Ironman 4×4 says is suitable for a vehicle weighing between 2100kg and 2900kg. Next up, is the big rig 12,000lb model. Ironman 4×4 says this winch is best suited to 4x4s that weigh between 2700kg and 3650kg. You have the choice of synthetic rope with a hawse Fairlead, or low-maintenance wire rope with a roller fairlead.

Waterproof rated
A very neat feature of the Frontier Winch range is the built-in breathers incorporated to maintain an IP68 waterproof rating. In fact, Ironman 4×4 states that the Frontier Winch is submersible at a depth of up to 1M for 30 minutes. Now, I don’t know about you – but if my 4×4 was in 1M of water, for longer than 30 mins, I’d be calling my insurance company and a tow truck. That’s a seriously impressive rating when it comes to water resistance.

Other key winch features
Ironman 4×4 tells us the Frontier Winch boasts 3-stage planetary gears, light yet strong synthetic rope (if selected) and it’s all backed by a solid 5-year warranty. Something else I like to see is the dual-purpose remote supplied with all Frontier Winches. This can be used wirelessly, or you can also plug it in for a direct connection.

How much does a Frontier Winch cost?

- Frontier Winch 9,500lb synthetic rope: $899
