New Exedy Safari Tuff clutch to suit Ranger and BT-50

A new Exedy Safari Tuff clutch kit has been designed as a direct replacement for the original self-adjusting clutch system in Ford Ranger/Mazda BT-50 models.

The new Exedy Safari Tuff clutch kit is designed specifically to suit Ford Rangers and Mazda BT-50s with 2.2-litre or 3.2-litre turbo-diesel engines, and it is ideally suited to vehicles that are subjected to bush driving or towing. Exedy says the clutch offers improved durability and increased torque capacity, and that “whether it be for work or play the new FMK-9041ST will help get you there”.

Exedy Safari Tuff clutches are nothing new and, in fact, Unsealed 4X4 looked at them back in 2016, but this new Ranger/BT-50 kit is new, and is also joined by new Safari Tuff clutch kits to suit the Holden Colorado and Mitsubishi Triton.

Safari Tuff clutches have a minimum 25 per cent increase in clamp load compared to a standard clutch and they feature a high quality clutch disc with upgraded damper springs and premium-grade friction materials. The cover assembly has an anodised pressing to limit corrosion.

Exedy says the Safari Tuff range has been “extensively tested in some of the toughest four-wheel drive races in the world by champions in the Australian Safari, Malaysian Rainforest Challenge and the Xtreme Winch Challenge”.

The kit Safari Tuff clutch kit comes complete with a concentric slave cylinder, a spigot bearing/bush, an alignment tool, a clutch cover and a clutch disc.
