British-based start-up, Ineos Automotive, is releasing its off-roader to Australia, and we don’t blame you for thinking it looks familiar. The 2023 Ineos Grenadier was inspired by the ceased production of the Land Rover Defender, satisfying dedicated fans with a new yet old-school way of getting around off-road.

The ode to the once legendary utilitarian vehicle will be available in three five-seat models. You’ll be looking at roughly $84,500 plus on-road costs for the entry model which is a two-seat utility wagon. You can expect to pay up to $96,495 for both Trailmaster and Fieldmaster variants. Powered by a BMW 3.0-litre, straight-six engine, you have the choice between petrol or diesel. The Grenadier also offers an 8-speed automatic transmission with manual override.

Features

You can look forward to the Grenadier’s permanent 4WD mode, ladder-frame chassis, heavy-duty coil suspension, and solid Carraro beam axles front and rear. All models are equipped with LED headlights and auxiliary high beam lights. Take care of your trailer on your next trip with the vehicle’s 3.5 tonne towing capacity. You can also recover seamlessly with 5.5 tonnes of winching power.

Inside, the versatile five-seat station wagon provides over 2,000 litres of load space with its 60:40 split-folding rear bench seat. Meanwhile, on top, the Grenadier’s reinforced roof structure allows you to secure your load with minimum fuss with its built-in roof rails and protection strips.

When it comes to carrying a full load, the Grenadier does not disappoint. It has 3.5 tonnes towing capacity and 5.5 tonnes of winching power for recovery. When parked, the Grenadier can withhold up to an impressive 420kg, including roof rack weight.

On top of the base features, the Trailmaster and luxe Fieldmaster models both feature a rear-view camera, power heated exterior mirrors and heated windscreen washer jets. They also both have puddle lamps, auxiliary charge points and a lockable central storage box. You can compare features here.

Orders are now open for the 2023 Ineos Grenadier with customisation available. You’ll need to drop a $5000 deposit, but don’t worry it’s fully refundable until the vehicle contract is signed closer to production date. Vehicle warranties include base (five years), paint (three years) and anti-perforation (five years).

There will be 32 sales and service centres across Australia and New Zealand. If you’re one of the first to get your hands on the vehicle in Australia, you can expect to be hitting the road between October to December.

By the end of the year, we will see 200 service locations across the globe, with 20% of the locations across Australia and New Zealand.
