Land Rover Defender and Toyota 70 Series LandCruiser owners rejoice: This update is aimed squarely at you guys. Toyo Tires has just released the holy grail of tyre sizes for those keen on running a tall and skinny tyre. A 255×85 R16 that translates, basically, into a 33-inch tall tyre that is only 10 inches wide. That is taller than a 285×75 R16 which most people run but over a full inch narrower, translating to better fuel economy and less wear and tear on components such as wheel bearings and studs while achieving more diff clearance. Talk about winning! Not only is this size a ripper, but the Toyo Open Country M/T has proven to be an extremely durable and high-performing tyre. In fact, while filming Season 10 of Pat Callinan’s 4X4 Adventures TV show, the entire film crew were rolling on Toyos and didn’t suffer a single puncture.
