They have been hanging off the front of my Defender since early February this year while it has been covering a decent amount of kays up and down the East coast of Australia. I got married in March, and we spent our Honeymoon in the old girl, catching the boat across to Tassie and touring around there for a few weeks. We did a combination of camping/4WDing and town/accommodation, which worked out to be a perfect test for a set of driving lights.

They’ve been dunked in water crossings, but haven’t had an animal strike (yet). After the six months, there haven’t been any problems to bring up. No damage, weathering or water ingress to note. The lights are only 2.4kg, which aside from the obvious benefits, means the lights don’t move or vibrate at all when mounted and nipped up.

Light output is more than plenty, giving a great combination of width and depth. These lights have a more noticeable spot pattern in the middle that punches a very long distance. They are quite expensive, but the quality of the product cannot be questioned. Plus, they’re Australian-made, which is awesome.

Lightforce have also included a daytime running light function, which means it requires a special loom. Sure, it’s handy and increases visibility, but I think it’s mostly for the wank value. Some will like it, others won’t. At least you can turn it off if you don’t.

Are these lights worth the money? I reckon they are. Not everyone can afford them, I know. It’s a significant amount to outlay. But if you do pay for them, and use them enough, they will last long enough to get your money’s worth out of them.
