No, it’s not a 6X6 G-Class. And no, it’s not really a Jimny anymore either. So what is it? I’ll tell you. It’s wonderful. And apparently, it only cost $9,000.

It’s built by the Nihon Automotive Technology School, which has around 750 students. They took two older Suzuki Jimnys (what we would call Sierras) and went to town with the grinder. It’s rocking the same diffs and engine (660cc turbo) as a normal Jimny/Sierra, and the panelwork is a combination of modified and custom fibreglass stuff to pull off the look.

I take my hat off. The proportions look pretty bang-on, compared to the incredibly expensive genuine article.
