Upgraded rear bars on touring four-wheel drives just make sense. They offer better protection than factory offerings. They offer a rated tow hitch. And make carrying spare tyres and Jerry cans so much more practical.

Ironman 4×4 has just announced its new rear bar to suit the ever-popular 76 and 78 Series Toyota LandCruiser range. Not only does it look the part, but Ironman 4×4 tells us it’s built like a tank too.

What’s the story?

Constructed from 3mm thick steel, the Ironman 4×4 rear bar is also powder coated for longevity. This coating is a textured finish in matte black. Design-wise, Ironman 4×4 created a rear bar that not only offers a better departure angle, it also provides increased strength and protection from impacts.

LandCruisers are built for towing, as such there’s no way Ironman 4×4 wouldn’t include a quality towing system. The tow hitch offers a full 3500kg tow rating. It’s also been designed in a way that it offers a better departure angle than some other offerings on the market.

The swing arm options used will accommodate 35-inch mud terrain tyres, which would be the largest most LandCruiser owners would want to fit. These swing arms also boast gas struts, that provide ease of operation when opening or closing the arms.

In fact, Ironman states you can accommodate either two 35-inch tyres, dual Jerry cans, and a high-mount jack – or even a combination of all.
