Toyota recalls more than 13,000 Prado 250s over dashboard software fault
Toyota has recalled more than 13,000 Prado 250s in Australia due to a software fault that may prevent critical warnings from displaying.

Toyota Australia has announced a safety recall affecting more than 13,000 current-generation LandCruiser Prado vehicles due to a software fault that may prevent critical warning indicators from displaying on the instrument cluster.
The recall affects approximately 13,042 Toyota Prado (GDJ250R) vehicles produced between June 2024 and June 2025.
What is the fault?
According to Toyota, a software error in the combination meter may result in some areas of the instrument cluster failing to display during vehicle startup. If this occurs, warning indicators relating to engine oil pressure, engine coolant temperature, electrical charging and other safety-related messages may not appear.
Toyota says the issue does not affect the operation of the vehicle itself, but the absence of warning indicators could increase the risk of an accident.
“Failure of the instrument cluster to display critical safety information or warning indicators may increase the risk of an accident causing injury or death to vehicle occupants and/or other road users,” the recall notice states.
The recall applies to certain VX, Altitude and Kakadu variants of the Prado 250 series sold in Australia.
How will Toyota fix it?
Toyota has advised affected owners that a software update will be provided free of charge. Owners can either have the update completed by an authorised Toyota dealer or install it via an Over The Air (OTA) software update delivered through the vehicle’s multimedia system.
Toyota says the fix will be delivered through two separate OTA updates, with an in-vehicle notification advising owners when the update is available.
The software update is expected to take between 60 and 90 minutes to complete. Owners choosing to visit a dealership may need to leave their vehicle for a longer period depending on workshop scheduling.
Toyota says drivers can continue using their vehicle while awaiting the update. However, if the display issue occurs, the company advises owners that functionality may temporarily return by switching the vehicle off and restarting it.
Affected owners will be contacted directly by Toyota.
