Ford’s Ranger is still building a steady sales lead over the HiLux in the 4X4 ute race, with 18,563 and 17,140 sales racked up respectively. Following that is the Triton (10,318), Colorado (9,603) Navara (7,373) and D-Max (6,127). Then follows the Mazda BT-50 (4,746), Volkswagen Amarok (4,361) and 70 Series LandCruiser (4,142).

There’s a strong fight brewing between the Isuzu MU-X and Mitsubishi Pajero Sport, who are going toe-to-toe with 3,759 and 3,899 each. Toyota’s LandCruiser Prado has gone back to dominance (8,657), well ahead of the almost-dead Pajero (2,076), Ford Everest (2,120) and beleaguered Jeep Grand Cherokee (2,799).
