Have you heard of Offline Campers? They’re a South Australian off-road camper manufacturer and next month, are rolling out a new hybrid pop-top model called the Solitaire. Available in 14ft and 16ft versions and building on their previous award-winning models, Raker, Domino and Ryder, this new camper offers more space inside and a cool electric-opening ensuite extension.
We’ll talk more about this unique ensuite in a minute, but first, let’s talk about its off-road capabilities.
Ready for the tracks
Just like Offline Camper’s previous models, the Solitaire is built to tackle Aussie tracks. It comes with Cruisemaster ATX airbag suspension as standard, a lightweight-ish build (1500kg dry), rear recovery points, ARK XO750 jockey wheel, 12″ electric brakes, lower stone protection, and you can match your fourby wheels up to 35″. Offline says it has a steep departure angle and high clearance but no specific figures are available on that yet.
Okay, let’s go back to the ensuite because anyone who needs to sit down to do their business will appreciate this feature in a camper.
Smart ensuite design
The integrated ensuite is a neat electric-opening extension that gives you full internal access to your toilet and shower without blowing out the size of your camper in terms of off-road capability. The toilet tucks away when not in use with minimal effort.
While Offline is keeping some details of the protected design under wraps due to how proprietary the concept is, we do know that you can choose between a traditional cassette toilet and a compositing one. The shower has a good flow rate of 10L/min with a hot and cold mixer and grey water storage. With a width of 1.8m and what looks like plenty of headroom, the ensuite is pretty spacious for a camper too.
“With more inside space, it’s nice to be able to wake up, have a shower, make a coffee, reply to some emails, all without stepping outside yet. When travelling, I like to ease myself into morning,” said Sam Reynolds, owner and designer.
Key Specs for 14ft – 16ft Offline Solitaire Camper models:
Interior comforts
Both the 14ft and 16ft models have various layouts, but generally, you’ll find a north/south innerspring queen bed with under-bed storage, a kitchenette, a café lounge with a table, floor-mounted air-con and a diesel heater.
Outdoor living space
Being a hybrid, the focus is on cooking and hanging out outside and it’s well equipped to do so with a 180 degree fast awning, stainless steel kitchen with plumbed gas and hot water, pantry and kitchen storage, and a 95L fridge/freezer..
Remote camping
Given that you’re looking at a camper trailer designed to head offroad, I’m going to go ahead and assume that you like camping in remote spots. The Solitaire can be ordered with up to 800W of solar, 600Ah lithium, and 340L of water. Plus, it has three-point charging and easy-to-use power controls.
