FORD RECALL: Over 13,000 Ford Rangers and Everests at risk of sudden engine failure while driving!

Ford Australia has issued a Ford recall affecting 13,490 Ford Ranger and Everest vehicles built between 2022 and 2025, warning that a serious engine defect could cause sudden stalling while driving. According to the Ford recall notice, this sudden loss of motive power whilst driving “increases the risk of an accident, which may result in serious injury or death to vehicle occupants and other road users”.
The Ford recall is due to a manufacturing defect that may cause the left-hand engine camshaft sprocket to fracture in the 3.0L Lion engine, which could lead to a complete loss of power on the road. Basically, your engine could potentially cut out without warning while driving.
If you’re behind the wheel of a 2022-2025 Ranger or Everest, don’t ignore this Ford recall. Ford will be contacting affected owners directly, urging them to book in with a dealership for a free fix.
Check your VIN on the Ford recall page or contact the Ford Customer Relationship Centre on 133 673 for more information.
I have one of these vechile in the recall. But I had to go through the recall list of 13000 numbers, as I have not received the recall notice from Ford Australia.
My Ford dealership has told me that the dealer have not been giving a fix method at this stage. So they will call me when Ford Australia work out what they are going to do.
So in the mean time, I am driving a time boom.
Ford states the problem “increases the risk of an accident, which may result in serious injury or death to vehicle occupants and other road users”.
So to avoid the increased risk of “serious injury or death” I would need to stop driving the vehicle immediately.
As the Ranger is now parked is Ford providing a loan vehicle until it is fixed?
What if I’m a tradie and the Ranger is my mobile tool box, how do I get my tools to the job site to earn my living?
If I continue to drive the problem vehicle (which may result in serious injury or death to vehicle occupants and other road users) does my MV insurance policy cover me considering I’m aware of the increased risk and chose to ignore it?
