2016 ACCESSORIES GUIDE

By Unsealed 4X4 7 Min Read

2016 is right in front of us and there’s never been a better time to get out there and explore this great country, so we thought we’d put together a guide on what the major players in the aftermarket industry have planned over the next 12 months to help you get your 4X4 ready for the bush. It doesn’t matter if you’re looking to get that bullbar, replace your old compressor, throw a fridge in the back or completely outfit your rig to tackle an around-Oz expedition, chances are you’ll be speaking to these guys along the way. Let’s see what they’ve got cooking over the coming year!

ARB

If you’ve been in the off-road game for more than five minutes then you’re no doubt already familiar with the industry giant that is ARB. These guys are well known for their massive range of Air Lockers, camping gear, suspension, bar work, lights and interior accessories – it literally is a one-stop shop if you’re looking to build your four wheel drive with nothing but high quality gear.

Unsurprisingly, 2016 is gearing up to be another massive year for ARB. They’ve recently released their brand new range of Old Man Emu BP-51 bypass shock absorbers which were designed, developed and tested in-house to suit Aussie conditions and allow independent adjustability of both rebound and compression of the shock, resulting in what ARB says are class-leading ride customisation abilities that can be tailored to individual vehicle requirements.

As you’d expect, they also offer a massive range of front, rear and side bars and roof racks to suit all of the popular late model and superseded 4X4s. They’re also continuing with their distribution of Redarc 12V systems and high-end lighting solutions to suit any vehicle you can think of.

IRONMAN 4X4

This year is not going to be seeing the green muscly guy slowing down, with Ironman 4X4 reporting that they’ve got so much on the boil right now, some of it is still too secret to share with us. Come on guys, what if we say ‘pretty please’? No? Fair enough I guess…

Despite their warnings to stop pestering them after hours and to stay off their property, we still can’t help but be impressed with the amount of gear Ironman 4X4 are pumping out. Aside from the stuff they’re releasing mid-year, the range of accessories already in production for current models is pretty huge. From the full complement of bar work available for the latest Ford Ranger PXII to the sleek looking Jeep Cherokee front bars to the comprehensive amount of tow bars, trailer wiring looms, and big tube Deluxe bars for GU Patrols and others, the Ironman 4×4 R&D department have not been sitting around twiddling their thumbs.

OPPOSITE LOCK

It’s going to be a massive year for the second-largest accessories distributor in the country with Opposite Lock gearing up for some massive new releases in the coming months. Given that they’re already distributors for the incredibly popular Harrop E-Lockers and top quality Kingone winches (both of which we’ll be putting through their paces over the 12 months), not to mention their range of bar work (including the popular X-Rox tube bars), things are looking to keep getting bigger and better this year. The guys tell us that they’re about to start producing an entirely new range of fridge/freezers that they reckon are going to take the market by storm, as well as bringing out an innovative new way of staying in touch in the bush with their Communication Packs which include a UHF radio, aerial and hand-held unit in a single case. On top of that, word around the campfire is that they’ve just done a deal with Darche to start selling their massive range of camping products through Opposite Lock stores. Watch this space as we bring you all the up-to-date products from the OL stable.

TJM

TJM started up way back in the 70s manufacturing custom bar work for desert racing Beetles. Since then the Aussie company has grown into a global brand that still manufactures top quality protection equipment as well as selling just about everything you can think of for your four wheel drive. Steel and alloy bull bars, nudge bars, side and rear protection bars, side steps, trade racks, roof racks, TJM recovery equipment, TJM winches, TJM XGS suspension, Airtec snorkels, TJM Pro Lockers and TJM roof top tents and awnings are all a mainstay of just about every campground in the country, and for good reason.

2016 should continue to see the company grow with their latest range of gear for new vehicles, most recently the NP300 Navara. They’re also a distributor for the highly regarded X-Ray Vision linear driving lights that are redefining what’s possible from LED lighting.
