Two major Ford recalls hit Ranger, Everest and F-150 models – Here’s what you need to know

In addition to the recall we reported on in May, Ford Australia has now issued two additional recalls so far for 2025, impacting a combined total of more than 30,000 vehicles, including some of the most popular models on and off Australian roads – the Ford Ranger, Everest and F-150.

Recall #1: Window auto-reverse fault – Ford Everest (2022–2024)

A software issue has been found in 955 Ford Everest vehicles that may prevent the driver and passenger side windows from automatically reversing if something (like a body part) obstructs the window while it’s closing. Instead of stopping, the window may apply an upward force greater than intended.

The safety risk? Increased chance of injury to vehicle occupants.

This fault may be related to an incorrect software update previously installed under a separate recall (reference: REC-006100 / 24C24).

Owners will be contacted in writing and asked to visit an authorised Ford dealer for a free rectification.

Recall #2: Rear-view camera malfunction – multiple models (2022–2024)

In a much larger recall, 29,874 vehicles across several popular Ford models are affected by a software issue that can cause the rear-view camera to fail while reversing. The issue affects:

  • Ford Ranger
  • Ford Everest
  • Ford F-150
  • Ford Mach-E, Mustang, Transit and Transit Custom

Without a functioning rear-view image, drivers could be reversing blind, significantly increasing the risk of accidents, particularly to people or objects behind the vehicle.

Again, Ford will notify affected owners and rectify the issue free of charge via its dealership network.

What should you do?

If you own a Ford Ranger, Everest or F-150 built between 2022 and 2024, it’s worth checking whether your vehicle is affected. Ford will contact owners directly, but you can also reach out to the Ford Customer Relationship Centre on 13 FORD (13 3673) or speak with your nearest authorised dealer.
