Product safety recall issued for all Ironman 4×4 Pro Forge upper control arms

Australian four-wheel drive accessory giant, Ironman 4×4, has just announced a product safety recall on their Pro Forge upper control arms range. Effective immediately, they are recalling all Pro Forge upper control arms. 

What’s the recall story? 

Ironman 4×4 says they have identified that the ball joint used in the Pro Forge upper control arm doesn’t meet their standards. There have been reports of premature wearing of the ball joint. This could result in the upper control arm failing prematurely, creating a risk of accident or injury to the vehicle occupants and other road users.  

What Ironman 4×4 upper control arms are affected? 

The affected Pro Forge upper control arms were sold from January 2019 to June 2023. These are the product codes to look for:

What do you need to do?

If you have a set of Pro Forge upper control arms fitted to your four-wheel drive, this is what you’ll need to do. You’ll need to contact your closest Ironman 4×4 store or authorised reseller to arrange an initial inspection, repair, or replacement of the affected product. 

You can also email recall@ironman4x4.com or call 1300 731 137 to speak with the Ironman 4×4 team who can assist with making arrangements to resolve the issue. Ironman 4×4 has stated that replacement or repair of the product will be carried out at no charge.

What is the next step? 

While there is no new part available at the time of writing, Ironman 4×4 has confirmed they are currently working on sourcing and testing an upgraded ball joint. This will feature an updated design to ensure the ball joint in the Pro Forge upper control arm is fit for purpose.

Ironman 4×4 also mentioned that there are no issues with the actual upper control arm. The issue is isolated to the ball joint.
